"I made a commercial and I was photographed, I did a poster once. I’ll presumably have to do that again. If you’re going to ask me questions about skincare, there’s not much I can tell you. Don’t rub a cheese grater up and down your cheeks. That would be my advice. Don’t dunk your face in engine oil or other caustic substances. I don’t know anything about it. They sort of ask you to do this thing and you go: ‘You’re out of your fucking mind, not in a billion years would I consider such a thing.’ Then, as they tell you it’s a great deal of money, the thought crosses your mind: ‘With that money I could build a school in Senegal.’ And then you can’t say no. Because if you do say no, what you’re saying is that your public pose is more important than people getting a school in Senegal or polio vaccinations in Uganda or whatever. You can’t do that. You just can’t."  - Hugh Laurie about his L’Oreal Campaign (via lisaedelstein)

I don’t see him as bad. I try as much as I can to make him the good guy in my world. I always thought that they go hand in hand, the good guys and the bad guys. You have to find the flaws, the little holes, the little mistakes the good guys are doing, and you have to find something you recognize in the bad guy. You have to find something that you can humanize in him. (x)

I take my work enormously seriously. When I do something it has to feel right. Everything has to be right. I'm not ambitious about my career, but I am ambitious with each job. I can be fairly annoying to work with. No compromises. Let's put it this way: compromises are from hell.

"There’s a sensual pleasure involved in making sounds, harmonious sounds, that I just can’t get, and I don’t think anyone can quite get, from acting. The end of a day filming is just an audit of all the things you did wrong. It’s like: ‘Fuck, I didn’t think of that, if only I’d done this, if only I’d done that.’ With music, you can hit bum notes and you can do all kinds of things wrong, but the sensual pleasure of playing a chord or some sort of groove, and the drummer joins in, a bass player joins in and just for that moment, that is the most exquisite pleasure there is. It just cannot get better than that. It takes over my whole body in a way that acting just can’t."  - Hugh Laurie, quoted in an an interview at The Guardian (via dendroica)

"I believe that Hannibal Lecter is as close as you can come to the devil, to Satan. He’s the fallen angel. His motives are not banal reasons, like childhood abuse or junkie parents. It’s in his genes. He finds life is most beautiful on the threshold of death, and that is something that is much closer to the fallen angel than it is to a psychopath. He’s much more than a psychopath…"  - Mads Mikkelsen, in an interview with huffingtonpost.com about his character Dr. Hannibal Lecter on NBC’s “Hannibal” (via kylynn89)

‘Once you do one bad guy, usually all you get offered is bad guys. But I’ve been able to do different things. I’m not looking for a challenge, necessarily. I’m looking to make a really great film’. Mads Mikkelsen.

"[Monroe] has a lot of power, and he has the inability to wield it with grace and responsibility - now that’s the scary aspect of it. And so I think that there’s an element where he is operating from a place of severe paranoia and anxiety and so on, and I don’t think that anyone who’s operating from that place should be in control of a vast majority of America. It’s like alcohol and heavy machinery, and I think that’s kind of what Monroe represents."  - David Lyons on Sebastian Monroe (via kawabiala)

"What we’ve been doing for the past four years is slowly peeling back who Beckett is for Castle, and now we’re trying to peel back who Castle is. He’s a guy who doesn’t reveal a lot of depth about himself, but you know it’s there and you see it in certain scenes. And now, Beckett is gonna be probing as to ‘who is this guy under the surface?’ We’re gonna see some more of that coming up."  - Andrew Marlowe on Caskett (x)
